Akko Air 01 Low Profile Mechanical Keyboard

Anyone who spends the day typing between a Mac, a PC and a tablet wants a keyboard that is low, solid and cable-free. The Akko Air 01 is a 75% low profile mechanical keyboard with an aluminium case, Kailh Cloud switches, three connections and a Mac layout, with Windows keycaps included.

Kailh Cloud switches

The Kailh Cloud switches are linear, with 50 gf of force, 1.2 mm to actuation and 2.8 mm of total travel. The sockets are hot-swap, but only accept Kailh low profile switches.

The keycaps are dye-sublimated PBT, low profile, and the RGB lighting is north-facing.

Aluminium and gasket mount

The case is bead-blasted aluminium and the plate is aluminium too, gasket mounted. It measures 319 × 131 × 21 mm and weighs about 612 g, so it fits in a backpack with your laptop.

The controls are on the side and a USB-A to USB-C adapter is included.

Wireless for Mac, Windows and tablet

It connects over USB-C, through the 2.4 GHz receiver or by Bluetooth 5.0, with 1000Hz polling over cable and on 2.4 GHz and 125Hz over Bluetooth. The battery is 4500 mAh. Setup is done in the Akko web and cloud driver, which does not work on Linux.

GAMER UNLOCKED TEAM’S TAKE

Who it’s for: Anyone who types a lot, works on a Mac or switches between several devices and wants a low, aluminium, wireless keyboard that also handles casual gaming.

Who it’s not for: Competitive FPS players who want rapid trigger: a magnetic keyboard makes more sense there, and we explain why in Hall Effect vs mechanical. There are also other keyboards with standard-height switches.

Honest notes: It only accepts Kailh low profile switches: standard-height switches do not fit. Akko’s software does not work on Linux.

⚠️ ANSI layout for Mac: US (ANSI) layout with Mac keys, with no extra key next to the left Shift. The Windows keycaps are included. If you type a lot in a European language, read our guide ANSI vs ISO first.
