  • Truthear NOVA: High-Performance 1DD+4BA Hybrid IEM

The Truthear NOVA is a hybrid in-ear monitor designed to deliver balanced, detailed and natural sound. Its configuration combines one dynamic driver with four balanced armatures (1DD+4BA) through a 3-way crossover structure, allowing different parts of the frequency range to be handled by dedicated drivers.

The 10 mm dynamic driver handles the lower frequencies, while the four balanced armature drivers reproduce the mids and highs. This combination allows the NOVA to take advantage of the characteristics of each driver type while maintaining a coherent and controlled presentation.

The shell is also manufactured using 3D DLP printing technology, allowing complex internal acoustic structures to be created while maintaining a lightweight and ergonomic design.

    1DD+4BA Hybrid Driver Configuration

Inside the Truthear NOVA is a hybrid system consisting of one dynamic driver and four balanced armatures.

The 10 mm dynamic driver features a composite diaphragm with polyurethane suspension and an LCP dome, combined with a dual-cavity internal magnetic structure. This configuration is designed to reproduce low frequencies with good control and low distortion.

The balanced armature drivers handle the midrange and upper frequencies, allowing the different areas of the sound spectrum to be reproduced by specialized drivers.

This hybrid approach provides a combination of bass impact, vocal clarity and detailed high-frequency reproduction.

    3-Way Crossover Structure

The Truthear NOVA uses a 3-way crossover structure to distribute the audio signal between its different drivers.

The dynamic driver focuses primarily on the low frequencies, while the balanced armatures handle the mids and highs.

By assigning different frequency ranges to dedicated drivers, the system is designed to achieve a smoother transition across the sound spectrum while taking advantage of the strengths of each driver technology.

    10 mm Dynamic Driver

The dedicated 10 mm dynamic driver uses a PU + LCP composite diaphragm.

Its structure is designed to combine flexibility and rigidity, helping the driver reproduce low frequencies with controlled movement and reduced distortion.

The specified frequency response extends from 8 Hz to 40 kHz, while the effective frequency response is rated from 20 Hz to 20 kHz.

This driver works together with the balanced armatures to create a full-range presentation without placing the entire frequency spectrum on a single driver.

    Balanced and Natural Tuning

The Truthear NOVA is tuned to provide a smooth and balanced listening experience.

Its bass response is designed to provide impact without overwhelming the rest of the frequency range, while the midrange keeps vocals and instruments clear and present.

The balanced armatures extend the upper frequencies, helping reveal smaller details within recordings while maintaining a controlled overall presentation.

This type of tuning makes the NOVA suitable for a wide range of music genres as well as listeners looking for a detailed everyday IEM.

    3D DLP Printed Shell

The shell of the Truthear NOVA is produced using 3D DLP printing technology.

This manufacturing method allows complex internal acoustic structures and sound channels to be created with a high level of precision.

The design also focuses on ergonomics, aiming to provide a secure and comfortable fit during longer listening sessions.

Its lightweight construction makes the NOVA suitable for extended use, whether for music, gaming or general audio listening.

    Detachable OCC Cable

The NOVA includes a high-quality monocrystalline copper OCC cable.

The cable uses four strands with a total of 448 conductors and is designed to provide a reliable connection for everyday use.

A detachable 0.78 mm 2-pin connector allows the cable to be replaced if necessary or swapped for another compatible option.

This detachable design can also help extend the lifespan of the IEMs, as a damaged cable can be replaced without replacing the entire earphone.

Easy to Use with Different Audio Sources

With an impedance of 14.8 Ω ±15% at 1 kHz and a sensitivity of 123 dB/Vrms, the Truthear NOVA can be paired with a wide range of compatible audio sources.

It can be used with computers, portable music players, DACs, audio interfaces and mobile devices equipped with the appropriate output or adapter.

Its relatively low impedance and high sensitivity make it suitable for both dedicated audio setups and everyday listening.

    Designed for Detailed Listening

The Truthear NOVA combines a 1DD+4BA hybrid configuration, 3-way crossover, 10 mm dynamic driver and four balanced armatures in a system designed for detailed and balanced sound reproduction.

The 3D DLP shell, detachable OCC cable and selection of included ear tips complete the package, allowing users to adjust the fit according to their preferences.

For listeners looking for a hybrid IEM with dedicated drivers across different frequency ranges, a replaceable cable and an ergonomic shell, the NOVA offers a versatile combination of features.

TruthEar made a notable impact with their debut release, the Zero. This success can be attributed to key factors such as a collaboration with the renowned IEM reviewer Crinacle, an underrated 2DD driver configuration, and adherence to the Harman target tuning.

Building on this momentum, TruthEar has expanded its lineup with subsequent releases, including the Hola, Hexa, and the latest addition, the Zero: RED. Each IEM has received acclaim, reflecting a reception that many emerging companies aspire to achieve.
